Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!

Finally got my amp yesterday...It fucking kicks ass! Now I just have to keep fooling around with the knobs so I can get the sound I want...I'm close but still needs a little more. Pretty sure I played for a solid 5 or 6 hors yesterday, which is more than I've played in a long, long time. Played for another hour today, and cleaned a little of my house today. I was going to clean the whole thing out and take some crap to the dump but when the amp came in I just said screw it.

I've been listening to Dream Theater lately and it's making me realize how a lot of the guitarists that I have idolized in the past(Kirk Hammet mainly) and thought played so fast really weren't that fast. John Petrucci plays twice as fast and it sounds really fucking good. And it's not just really fast up and down scales. He's got some complex fucking patterns going on. And he still knows when to slow the fuck down to make it sound good. Now don't get me wrong, Kirk Hammet is still a great guitarist, but maybe he isn't as good as I always thought.

Been thinking about my future expenses. Once I get my amp paid off I'll just be paying for the car, which will only take me a couple years to pay off. Assuming that I am able to get an cheaper place to live in I'm going to buy a new instrument...well, two of them. I'm thinking a keyboard and a guitar. The keyborad will probably be on of the $200-300 ones from Cleo's where as the guitar I'm gonna save uo and buy a Gibson(SG or Les Paul...haven't decided yet but leaning towards the SG) But I'm not sure which one...The Gibson will be a lot more expensive but I think as a guitarist it would be a better purchase. So, in typical Andrew style I'm going to try and not make this choice and have you the reader tell me what to do. Now seeing as I have no readers I think this might take awhile but I can wait....

I didn't know you were buying a tsl, that rules! Kudos on purchasing the cream of the marshall crop. If you're playing with settings I'll tell you mine if you're interested.

Crunch:
Presence: 3 o'clock
Bass: One O'clock
Middle: Nine O'clock
Treble: Two O'clock
Gain: Depends on volume, I usually have it maxed out if I'm playing anything less than half volume.

Lead:
Bass: high noon
Middle: 11 o'clock
Treble: three o'clock
Gain: usually max

Clean: pretty much depends on your guitar and your volume and gain settings.

I've had my tsl for about a year and they're tricky amps, you have to kind of coax the right sounds out of them. I'll save you some time by saying that the deep switch is pretty much useless in any kind of band setting. Also to get your footswitch to work all your switches have to be pushed in on your amp otherwise it will refuse to change channels with the foot switch. Happy noise making.
