Life Finds A Way
Dear reader, you almost didn't get this post today. I came very close to being t-boned by an arsehole blowing through a stop sign today. Luckily I was paying attention and a little paranoid after my previous incident and the fact that there is ice outside. Yeah, it's that time of the year.
One of the bonuses to totaling my Mitsubishi is that I get to drive the Subaru which has AWD and better tires. It should be much better in the winter. Plus the steering wheel warmers. Fuck seat warmers. The steering wheel is where it's at.
I finally heard back from SGI and my car is official written off, which isn't a surprise. They're giving me almost 12K for it but since I still have 15K left on the loan I'm gonna search around and see if I can get a bit more. Initial look says that's a good price though. Oh well. So, I might not buy a new car and we might go down to one. This isn't a huge issue but it would be way easier if we didn't live outside of Saskatoon. Or if my wife would stop doing stuff in the evenings.
I would like to find a job that has me working from home, which would make it absolutely zero issue, but that's not something that just happens. If only cuddling puppies paid well. I have applied for some remote positions, but when you can hire a worker that is in your city (i.e. Vancouver or Toronto) then it doesn't make sense to hire someone from Saskatoon.
I keep seeing jobs in Ireland or New Zealand trying to attract talent. Usually they are for outside of my expertise but I think they are trying to attract anybody and like.....New Zealand? Yes, please! Honestly, I'd think about it more if there was a mother-in-law in the beginning stages of Cancer and a daughter in the beginning stages of possibly starting the process of introducing the induction of intelligence.
Plus I didn't last in Vancouver for over a month, let along Ireland. As much as Saskatoon is way nicer than Regina, I still think it would be nice to be back in Regina. When you sit in your house and play video games all day, you just need the outside to be familiar.
I know it's dreary and rainy, but I think Ireland would be near the top of my list for places to move to. New Zealand would be great but it's so out of the way and I imagine walking up and down the mountains would be killer. I think number one would be a nice European country like Italy or Spain or something along those lines. Not too hot but not as bad of winters.
Of course, I live in Canada, which is a great place to live too.
