Summer Cookin'. Happened So Fast.
This past father's day, my wife and daughter decided to buy me an outdoor cooking device. Also known as a Barbeque. Previously I had a little red Coleman camping stove passed down from my mother and father. This one is the same thing but one size bigger and blue. Considering there's usually just two of us to cook for, three if the spawn decides to stick around, it's the perfect size. I could use a slightly bigger side table but it's better than nothing, which is what my last one had.
So, now that I have a working BBQ again, I've been using it. A lot less dishes to clean up after. The other day I did chicken legs, baby potatoes and perogies all on the grill. Hindsight is that I should have added more butter to the perogy package.
But, I'm trying more "recipes." I use quotes as I usually just get the rough idea and then do my own thing. And I find the BBQ is great for that. It is too easy to just get stuck in making hotdogs and hamburgers mode though. I have to be careful since the tower controller can't eat red meat. It's way too easy to get stuck in chicken burgers and turkey dogs.
All of it is focused on that previously noted idea of less dishes. Also, being careful when cleaning the grill.
On that same day I got an awning from Costco as suggested by my parents. It now makes our deck usable in the evenings rather than a hundred degree hot box with the sun beating down. Maybe I'll get my patio chair done someday and it'll be a nice, comfy place. But, that sounds like work. Tedious, tedious work.
What's your favorite thing to grill up, beside soylent green?
