I've made it no secret that I do most of my TV watching on YouTube. If you get it started right, the algorithm feeds you some pretty good stuff. I've discovered a lot of creators there and usually enjoy it. Of course, I've been noticing more and more lately is that the suggestions is just stuff I am already subscribed to and the unescapable portion of an ad is getting longer and longer. A full minute for some of them, and multiple per video if it is long enough.

So, I finally followed the advice of Legal Eagle and bought a subscription to Nebula. It was about 60 bucks for a year and I have no ads to wait through. I also don't have nearly the quantity of suggestions and there is no auto play feature.

This isn't all bad though. There is some good stuff on there. In addition to Legal Eagle there is also Wendover, Practical Engineering and a few others. Most on the site I've never heard of but they all appear to be more than just someone reacting to something. Actual discussion about stuff. I've already got in a few extra creators and the recent suggestions of woman fronted channels has added stuff to my list.

In any given day there are only 5-10 new videos posted to the site across ALL creators, but there is still plenty of backlog. It means I watch a few then head over to YouTube again for the dumb stuff. And not having commercials has been worth it so far. I'm sick of Pilot telling me to work for SGI.

Wake up first thing in the morning, there's Pilot. Try to watch a video about a guy making bread that turns out to be chalk, there's Pilot. See how best to beat level 1-1 of Super Mario 1, It's a me! Piloto! At least when you go to the SGI communications YouTube you can see him wearing a Clutch shirt. Good choice.

Honestly, I'd be offended by the amount of ads from SGI buts it's way better than the Tesla or Scott Moe ads that I kept reporting. Don't bring that crap in here! I only want discussions about religion and insurance!

Probably should just stop watching so much stuff but we all know that isn't going to happen. I'm just too lazy for that.

It is always nice to see someone you know on an ad though. Like that time Capone was in an SGI post! Or that time Capone was on a Bamboo Shoots Calendar! He really is a model, though he is much more scarred than he was back then. He can still do a nasty Blue Steel though.

I'm surprised you didn't complain about all the ads with Victor in them too. We're taking over the provincial advertising world!

The longer that SGI ad runs, the more I regret doing it. I've had some very weird interactions because of it. But, I also know that it's prevalence is putting my face in front of someone who has been a terrible bully to me and my family. While I'm taking the high road and not responding to this person's abuse, it gives me some comfort to know that they can't watch TV without seeing my ugly mug.
