Hiking without the Hiking
My YouTube feed can get pretty varied sometime but the algorithm snags onto anything I watch and blasts me with a metaphorical firehose of videos on any particular subject that strikes my interest for a few seconds.
Recently I got a guy who goes backpacking on weekends and sleeps in a tent. It's mostly him reviewing different equipment and trying to be lightweight and comfortable. Now, I'm not saying I want to walk eight hours a day in the rain like he does, but it did get me thinking that I'd like to do some day hikes, if for no other reason than to buy some new toys maybe?
Obviously, I'm way out of shape so I don't think I'll start with an eight hour day, and I will likely never get there, but I can start with something. I pitched going on a couple kilometer hike with Daniella so we can take the dogs and half way through we can stop and have a picknick or something like that.
I would love to go on a multi-hour hike with Capone but trying to take just him is worse than death for Sadie. Dash couldn't give two fucks about Capone leaving but his humans better not. I also wouldn't mind going out in the winter but I don't think I'd try too long with the dogs. Even on a nice day that snow can be cold on the paws after too long.
I'd take all three but that is one of the big problems with having three young dogs: I can't take them out by myself. I tried to take them out first thing in the morning after Dash started attacking Capone to hopefully burn some energy off but it was too much for me. They just pull since Capone is the only one that was taught to walk on a leash.
I'd be happy going down to just one again so I can walk them in the morning or after work but I don't think I'm going to win that argument. It's also not going to happen anytime soon. Capone turned four in April and Dash turned three just a couple of weeks ago. Seeing as we figure Sadie is in the middle somewhere, we still have at least ninety-four years left with all three of them.
