To The Stars

Battles! Space! Lasers! Pew pew pew!

It's all about flying around in space and beating each other up. Unless you're in the Star Trek world. Then it's about exploration and trekking across space. Being the ultimate diplomat and making the galaxy a better place.

We lost one of the greatest diplomats to grace TV or real life, Sir Patrick Stewart. The amount of voiceovers, TV roles, movie roles, etc. that stick in my mind are legion. I don't think of him as influential to me, but Picard, Charles Xavier, someone in Fallout 3 that I can't remember. He was prolific.

And a great human being as well. He loved all and was loved by all. The news of his passing cuts deep.

I was never a super follower of Star Trek or X-men, or anything else of his, but he always put on a great performance. And for the record. Picard greater Kirk. And that's not even bringing into account the actors themselves.

But, this is life. One of the downsides to our technological and entertainment filled world. There are more people for us to feel sad about dying. I commented to my wife the other day that I need to stop following so many dogs on Instagram cause I'm setting myself up for tears. Not nearly as many as their owners, but you get it.

The amount of people honouring Patrick Stewart in the various space games I play is also immense. No Man's Sky, Elite Dangerous, etc.

Yeah. Not sure what to say. It just stings. The world has lost a great man. May we always remember him as so.

Oof, the comment about following dogs on Instagram has me wondering if you're referring to Tatum. He passed away a couple of weeks ago and left me quite sad.

Picard is and always will be my captain. Except when Riker takes the bridge, then he's my captain. Patrick Stewart was something really special, Shakespearean to his core but able to take that voice into sci-fi and superhero fiction. Amazing actor, I always hoped they'd get another TNG movie out or something, but I don't think we'll see that happen.
