New OS

Greetings folks. I was gone there for a bit. You see, when I installed Windows XP after my hardrive crashed something went wrong...I finally decided to fix it last night. I unisntalled Windows and when I went to reinstall it I found that there was a scratch the size of a period that was corrupting the disc. After two cleans in the machine at Movie Factory and faced with having to spend 150 bucks to get a new Windows cd, Jeremy handed me a cd and said: "Here, try Linux...it's free" Ok, that's not exactly what he said but the meaning was there. And I thought I'd go for it. SO I just got it installed and am downloading updates for it right now. So far I like it.....WEEEEEEE...WEEEEE......Jeremy will get that.

Changes

Well, big news at Condon today. We are no longer Condon. We have merged with an Alberta company called Altus Geomatics. Not much will be changing for me though, I'll just have to say a different name and read a different decal on the side of the trucks. Guess the bosses couldn't say anything to anyone until last night after the stock exchange closed because Alt West is a public company. Guess they didn't want to end up bunking with Martha. So it came as a little surprise but not a shock. Sounds like it's gonna be a good move. We still control our offices but our resource base is broader. Alt West is about the same size as Condon so it's probably a good match up and they have actually worked with some of our guys before and the owners know our owners a bit.

So look out world...I might be coming around in Condon gear when they try to get rid of it all!

Interestingly boring

Not too much happening in the life of Andrew Pilon at the moment. Just trying to get through the mud at work and hoping that my new Marshall TSL100 gets here soon(It's an amp for those of you who don't know(Shanna)). Just thought I'd come on to give y'all a few movie reviews. That's right...I've started watching movies again.

Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny - Jack Black and Kyle Gass go on a mission to secure the Pick of Destiny so that they may become gods of metal. funny stuff happens. Well, it's no Raisin the Stakes but it's hard to top perfection. I give this movie 9 bigfeet out of 10.

Saw III - Jigsaw returns to scare the pants off you...or try to anyway. Although I thought this was a good movie...I also thought it was the worst of the three. The only part that made squirm was when the guy snapped his own foot. Granted, I wouldn't want anything in that movie to happen to me. It wasn't as bad as the last three and the traps seemed to lack imagination. There weren't really many traps...just a guy walking through picking whether or not to kill someone. I give it 6.5 skull fragments out of 10.

Stranger Than Fiction - Will Farrell stars as a taxman for the government who does the exact same thing day in and day out and adds no excitement to his life. When he starts hearing a voice narrating his life and it tells him he is going to die he gets worried. He finds that someone is writing a book and it just so happens to control his life. funny and sad stuff follows. It's not the funniest movie but it's not supposed to be. It's just a good movie. I give it 8.5 cookies out of 10.

Pylonic Records and all that stuff

Not much happening in the world of Andrew. Had to go work on a Flow Line replacement in the Apache field on Friday and Saturday so that kinda ruined my weekend. Hope they pay well. Decided to sit down and do some mixing on Stargazing today. It's the song Jeremy wrote that I've been recording for him. Had to try and teach myself something about vocal compression. I think that's gonna take awhile...or a better compressor than the one Audacity has...but whatever. I hope to buy a good program sometime in the future.

All in all the song is sounding very good. I figure the gold diapers will be coming on soon.

Dog Day Afternoon - Al Pacino stars as the brains behind a bank robbery that goes bad. While trying to figure out how to get him and his partner out of the bank without the police getting them and trying not to get any of the hostages killed he goes through many mentally challenging situations. This movie was a really good movie. a really good story line, keeps you entertained. I give it 8.5 Air conditioners out of 10.
